Rajbala and her family have been living in Gurgaon for the last three decades. After she started watching Baba Ramdev's yoga sessions on TV, her family says, Rajbala became a devout follower and eventually a trained yoga teacherRajbala told her family that this was the first time she felt like she was a part of some sort of change. She even went on a fast to support Baba Ramdev.

Rajbala Malik had always wanted to make a difference and bring about change. But what happened at Ramlila Maidan on Saturday night changed her identity forever. From now on she will be known as the unfortunate victim of the infamous midnight swoop.

Devendra Tai, an employee with member of parliament Rajeev Chandrashekhar, took Raj Bala to the hospital after the doctors on spot refused to attend to her. He says that after Baba Ramdev returned to the stage, the police got aggressive. Over 700 of the Baba's supporters had surrounded him on the stage and they had formed a human chain around him. Raj Bala was one of them. The police had started beating up the protestors and someone informed that there was a woman lying unconscious on the stage.

The Gurgaon-based yoga teacher suffered an injury to the spine when the police forced protesters who had joined Baba Ramdev's fast against corruption out of the venue. The injury has left her a quadriplegic - unable to move her limbs - and battling for breath, quite literally. Her family maintains that her injuries are the result of being hit by the police. Her condition was very critical from day one and her vital parameters were being maintained with increased pharmacological support, doctors said.Admitted on June 4 with cervical spinal injuries after the midnight crackdown on Ramdev’s supporters

Raj Bala had undergone a surgery for cervical spinal injuries. Doctors have done a decompression and fixation using plate, screw and cage. 

Rajbala, who was in a critical condition for the past 114 days, breathed her last at the neurosurgery department ICU of G B Pant Hospital here at 10:25 am, doctors said.

Grieving family members blamed Delhi Police for her death. “She died due to police action. Everybody knows why police took such action against the protest. We want our mother back. Can they do that?” said her daughter-in-law Rakesh Malik said.
