Writing on the wall

1) Congress today said its victory the bypoll to Hisar Lok Sabha would be a "fitting reply" to forces which are out to "undo" the good" work of UPA government and a "matter of prestige" for party chief Sonia Gandhi.
"It is not a question of just one seat of Hisar...We have to give a befitting reply to those forces which are at work attempting to undo our good work. This (the polls) is a matter of (Congress President) Soniaji's prestige," Congress General Secretary and party in-charge for Haryana affairs B K Hariprasad said addressing the general body meeting of PCC here.  Indian express reports

2) Congress nominee and three times former MP Jai Prakash was among 38 candidates who forfeited their security deposit in the Hisar Lok Sabha bye-election in which Kuldeep Bishnoi of the HJC-BJP combine won, defeating his nearest rival, the INLD’s Ajay Singh Chautala.
The Congress was not only relegated to the third spot, its candidate Jai Parkash, a former Union minister, lost his security.
District Election Officer (DEO) Ram Niwas told reporters that besides Bishnoi and Chautala, none of the 38 remaining candidates in the fray could save the security deposit. DNA reports

Then Mad Digvijay says,
3) Digvijaya Singh has stirred another controversy, this time again for his remarks on anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare. The senior Congress leader has said he has "heard that BJP has told Anna Hazare that he could be the all-party candidate for the 2012 President's election."  NDTV reports

As result of defeat,

4) It appeared to be a case of confusion confounded with the upset delegation from Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra saying that they would no longer wanted to meet Gandhi.

Idukki MP P.T. Thomas said: "There was a communication gap in my office and for that I apologise to the sarpanch (village head) and other members coming from Ralegan Siddhi. There is no meeting scheduled for today (Tuesday)."

The three-member team, including social activist Hazare's personal secretary Suresh Pathare and village sarpanch Jaisingh Rao Mapari, had reached the capital Monday to meet Gandhi but could not meet him as they did not have an appointment.

The team said they got a call from Thomas and Gandhi's offices confirming the appointment.

"We got an appointment call from offices of Thomas and Gandhi. Gandhi's office even asked us details of people who will meet him. That's why we have come. Now we don't feel like meeting Gandhi," Mapari said.

But both Thomas and Gandhi's office denied that any appointment was given to them.

"It is incorrect to say that we gave them an appointment. In fact, no one (from the office) called them. It is totally wrong to claim that Rahul Gandhi had invited them for a meeting," an official at Gandhi's office told IANS. The Pioneer reports

Hazare's representatives said they were not interested in meeting the Congress leader if this is how they were to be treated.  India Today adds

5) Despite his fear of an attack on him, Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal will embark on his campaign in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, and social activist Anna Hazare began ‘maun vrat' in his native town of Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra.
Mr. Kejriwal maintained that he was warned by his friends in the media about the possibility of an attack on him, but said he had not received any threat call or message. The Hindu reports
6) In a shocking development, key Team Anna member and noted RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal was on Tuesday attacked by a youth with a slipper while he was going to attend a programme in Lucknow as part of their anti-graft campaign,
The youth identified as Jitendra Pathak of Jalaun district hurled the slipper on Kejriwal when he was about to reach the dais at Jhulelal park. Zee News reports

Pathak was identified as congress worker. Now why the top brass will not be arrested for not reading writing on the wall and taking revenge of defeat?
